The key terms that Nietzsche uses time and again are now Experiment and now Versuch; but it is well to keep in mind that Versuch, too, need not mean merely “attempt” but can have the characteristic scientific sense of “experiment”: it is quite proper in German to speak of a scientist as making a Versuch.
